They commonly have degrees in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. Process Engineers are common in manufacturing fields involved in pharmaceutical production, oil and mining, and processed food. They are often involved in specifying the order and type of equipment used in a manufacturing process, and may create block flow diagrams layout a process in a manufacturing plant. Process engineers should generally have strong skills with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and statistics.
